So busy with Christmas things but still found time to dapple and try out some mixed media. Thought I'd practice on an ATC size. Theme is Flowers in her hair which I have to do a 6" x 6" for a group swap. First time I've done anything like this and now I know what I have to change for the real thing.

I've also had to do my first journal page swap.........a big step for me, but it's good to get out of the comfort zone.
This page had to have the theme - "A generous Heart". Here is my page and although I'm not totally satisfied with it, will leave it as is and see what the others do for theirs. As this is my first, can only get better.

I have joined a mixed media group which I'm enjoying and it's really pushing me into crafting which is good.
Here is a tag I had to do for a swap called "Elephants can fly"

I love tags and must say I really enjoyed doing this once I started. I crumpled the tag and sponged with ink and sprayed with a little water. After ironing it out to try to flatten it, I used a stencil and some modelling cream. Had no idea what to do for a flying elephant so chose to make it pink and used some butterfly wings I had, added some brown burlap to earth the whole thing again and added an appropriate saying.

Eggshell technique

Looks like I haven't been active for a while......I'm not so good at keeping up-to-date with blogs, journals etc.

This is an ATC called "Broken hearts" which was a theme in a group I'm in.

I used the "eggshell technique" which I learned from a friend called Hilde Loch.

Alcohol inking again

Been dabbling again with the alcohol inks while the weather is not so good.

Of course I'm just new to stamping etc., although I've had the materials for a few years, have just opened them, so I'm easily pleased with my results at the moment. Have just received more materials delivered today and it's rainy outside, so I'm rarin' to go! Just need to figure out exactly what's not quite right with my camera........

Dabbling with Alcohol Inks

The weather was beautiful today and I managed to get a round of golf but at the weekend it was very dull and cloudy, so I decided to take the plunge and open some of my packets of stamps and alcohol inks which have been sitting unused for some time now.
I came up with this:-

What I did was - make the background with alcohol inks - Pink Sherbert; Juniper and Stonewashed. I then stamped the corner border with Stazon Olive Green. I stamped a butterfly onto the rest of the background cardstock and used a die to cut it out. The homemade washi tape is stamped with a bird and leaf stamp.
The teabag folded medaillon is using "Sue Richardson's Queen of the Meadows " fold. The raspberry coloured lace I made and coloured myself. (I used to make and fire my own porcelain dolls and this is some leftover lace from that).
I also did another background and stamped a flower with Stazon Black and then on top I stamped again with Adirondack Lights "Snow Cap".

Think I'll need to do the stamping thing more often as it's quite fun really and I love the unique "one of a kind" backgrounds.
